N I T R A T E

Low levels of nitrate are an important part of a healthy aquarium. However, high levels can kill fish. So it is important to keep the nitrate level low.

Nitrates are a result from the decomposition of ammonia.  Which is cause by fish waste-by-products.

Ways to keep nitrates low:
1. Don't overstock the tank.
2. Don't overfeed.
3. Do regular partial water changes using a gravel
    siphon, while removing fish waste.
4. Remove any dead plants or dead fish immediately.

How to check nitrate levels
You can purchase a nitrate testing kit at our store.  You can also bring a sample of water (approx. one cup) to our shop and we will test it for you at no charge.
